Bills, gardening and food....

I've added another couple of recipes to the Pro Points page.

We have both been to the dentist this morning, me for a check up OH for the hygienist. More expense tomorrow as we both have the chiropractor. Hopefully, the old expenses will calm down a little after that.

Slowly getting to grips with weeding the garden. It looks quite sorry for itself in places. Will do some more today but think the heat will make us take our time and do it in short bursts.

Managed to obtain some calendula seedlings from my neighbour. Some had already drifted in but asked for a few more. This time of year, my flower garden in the front peters out for a few weeks so they will be a welcome burst of colour come August. The lavender bushes are attempting to stand up after being hammered in the storm last Wednesday evening.

Yesterday we washed and dried one double summer quilt on the line, another one is out today. That is the only size I can get in the washing machine but they smell so good afterwards. Might try pressure hosing the winter ones and summer king size – might work as long as I don't blast a hole in them:-).

We had a lovely bowl of home made yoghurt, plus the first home grown blueberries and raspberries yesterday.

  1. that yogurt and fruit looks really good. I like to add some granola as well for crunch.

  4. Your garden looks really good considering it's been battered. Our back garden looks like a jungle - and the allotment looks terrible. We're going to have to spend a lot of hours there in the Autumn/Winter getting it sorted.I tried the almond milk on my bran flakes this morning - it was lovely- far nicer than soya.

    1. That is because you can't see it close up! No, it is not too bad just hope this sun doesn't set off any new virus/disease. Glad the almond milk is okay. Will have to let S. know about it. Where did you get it from and is it expensive?x

  5. Your yoghurt with the berries on looks gorgeous.Isnt it lovely when you can just go out to your garden and harvest something like that to eat? WE have a few berries on our blueberry bushes but they arent ready yet, maybe we will get more next year?

    1. The blue berries spent the first 4 or 5 years of their lives producing gradually more berries as they and their tubs got larger. This spring, after building the fruit cage they went direct into our 'alkaline' soil. This is the first time we have gotten the big commercial size berries (just a few). We will have to keep trying to make their part of the soil as acid as possible.

  6. I adore Lavender and hopefully once our garden is sorted I can start planting more of it. We have loads of calendula down the lottie which grows wild - it's such a sunshiney little plant x
