Away...

I seem to have lost a follower over the weekend - sorry to see you go!

Anyway, we were away last weekend visiting DS. and FDiL, who was only there for the night as she was shortly going back home to see the musical 'Hairspray" with her family.  We had left whilst she was travelling back so look forward to seeing her next time!

We had a very busy time, helping DS. shave 1" off the over-sized  skirting boards in their hall and lounge. The front and back gardens had their last few remaining shrubs taken out. They have now retrieved another 5' or so of garden space and when they have some spare time, will be able to start planning what to do with it.

The dogs as ever were a delight. Here are some photographs of S. and M. doing their stuff (retrieval in water practice).

They were lovely and clean after that.
It didn't last long though, as the area was bone dry, and they were soon the colour of the mud as they ran around in sheer happiness. Forgot to take a picture but you get the idea.

Sitting in our pile of post delivered no doubt on Saturday, was my lovely 'win' from Compostwoman.
If you click on the picture you should be able to read what I got. Inside the brown paper bag were a few 'soapnuts' something I have not used so shall have a go. Thank you Compostwoman, it was all lovely and useful.

I'll post a few more pictures tomorrow.

  1. Oh good - it arrived safely!

I thought the soapnuts might appeal - they are pretty good and you can re use them again and again, which appeals to me - and make a wash liquid from them if you want ;-)

I hopethe seeds are things you want to grow - always difficult to be sure :-)

  2. I lost a follower over the weekend too, but as it's someone who has now come and gone 3 times I'm used to it! Fabulous pictures of the dogs, and it sounds like you had a busy but enjoyable time. We saw K on Saturday ( wedding dress shopping) so had a long but wonderful day.

    1. They are our grand-dogs but yes, they love the water. They do feel cold though if they swim on a very cold day.Once near water, it is difficult keeping them out!

    1. Other than printing off your list of followers, I don't know. Maybe they find us boring, who knows!

  8. And I meant to say - love those Springers, our Sam was most wonderful springer, lived 14 years, still missed 15 years later.

    1. It is amazing how much pets stay in our memories. We still remember our guinea pigs and their amazing antics.

  9. It's funny how Follower numbers go up and down on occasion, sometimes maybe we say something that they really don't agree with or maybe they are just spring cleaning their list of Blogs they are following.

Lovely 'grand-dogs', you can't beat seeing dogs so thoroughly enjoying themselves, with yours it's water, with my Jack Russell it's when she finds a rat, or a mouldy mouse left by the cats....I think you have the better deal :-)

    1. I think I would agree as well. However, my front pond more than makes up for it. We hove taken out many drowned mice and baby birds over the years. So sad!
