I started off with a long list of things to do this week. Don't know why but there you go. Never worry if they don't all get done, that is the good thing about being retired - manana/manjana!
Anyhow, I did manage to make two bloomer loaves according to the recipe by Paul Hollywood. Not easy to cut with the slicer as they tend to widen during rising but we managed. Would however, need 2 sandwiches each as they are so long and slim!
Also 'cooked' a half batch of frugal laundry liquid (the red line is to remind DB not to throw them away)
Finally, I washed the second bedroom curtain, cut up the new king size black duvet cover (very cheap) and sewed a half onto each curtain to darken the room on these early sunny mornings. They have cut the extra light down by around 30-40% and are a lot better now.
Bread looks wonderful, I can almost smell it from here. I know what you mean about being retired and not getting the jobs done on time, there is always next week!
ReplyDeleteBlack out linings are a good idea, I seem to be waking up too early these days even if I'm late to bed. Usually I hit that 3pm wall and need a power snooze :-)
The wind is whipping up at the moment and I think it will rain tomorrow, glad I have done the washing and the windows.
Very windy yesterday and today seems the same. Just clouded over so won't be drying outside. Will put everything on the rack in the conservatory.
DeleteBread looks so yummy, I love days doing all these kind of tasks, I feel a real sense of acomplishment at the end of it. Will have to get me Hollywoods book x
ReplyDeleteYou can get all his recipes online.
DeleteYou have been busy! I've had a lazy day and have done very little other than take Mum shopping. I need to do some cleaning and baking tomorrow though once KL goes to college.
ReplyDeleteShould have a less hectic day this time. Needed to make the frugal liquid as I was being too heavy handed with shampoo!
DeleteThat washing liquid looks great.
ReplyDeleteSft x
And very easy to make. If you don't already do so search my blog for frugal laundry liquid (or variations on that) and eventually you will find the recipe. Each wash only costs me around 3p.
DeleteThe duvet cover as "blackout" linings sounds very good. Last summer I was awake from dawn evey morning so I need to line my curtains too. We also have a Velux window at one end of the bedroom and I need to create a blind of some kind for that as the rising sun sends lots of light through there. I tried bluetacking card to the glass last year but the card kept falling down as the sunlight dried out the bluetack too quickly. I need to get my thinking cap on quickly before dawn gets any earlier.
ReplyDeleteOur curtains were of a pale colour with a pale liner and relatively thick but still let a lot of light in. You can buy blackout blinds or material (Dunelm have some) which would be better and possibly cheaper but the duvet is working relatively well. We had a canal holiday a couple of years ago and had to duct tape a black bin liner over the skylight!
ReplyDeleteThe bread looks wonderful...Karen is right - you can almost smell it! Mmmmmmmm
ReplyDeleteIt is tasty and 'springy' but also quite slim so we need to use 4 slices each for a sandwich.
