What a night...

Welcome to my new follower via Bloglovin - Christine Moorwood.

Apart from one of those nights when you know you won't sleep (around 4am for me I think), it was truly a miserable night with the weather. For a while, we thought we had missed it, but early in the morning, the ferocity of the wind and the Fire engine pressure of the rain, hit with full force.

First thing this morning, checked our boundaries and all fences still standing bar one, which had shunted out in one direction - it will need re-attaching!

Off this morning to hand out a final card and pressie (and get coffee and mince pie and a hug in return), then we are in for the duration. DS, FDil and dogs due for the New Year.

I had to pull out 6 rows of knitting yesterday as I had misread the pattern. I have now re-written it in jargon only I can appreciate and things are going a little more smoothly. I will also have to patch my newly knitted bootees as the heels have gone on them both. The pair last year, lasted almost a year and these only a few weeks. Ah well.

Anyway, may all my blogging friends and followers have a lovely Christmas (or holiday if you are having one). Thought I would leave you with this needlepoint, completed by DB!

Yes, that is a slight reflection of me in there!

  1. Like you I had trouble sleeping last night. Partly everything I had to do over the next couple of days whirling around in my head and partly the horrendous weather down here on the south-east coast. No damage done despite it feeling like our mid-terraced house was rocking on its foundations, and Dover port being shut down for a few hours. Its calmer today although still really rainy. Fortunately we're lucky enoug to have power although quite a lot of the south is without. Anyway, here's wishing you and yours a happy and peaceful Christmas. Love, Helen x

  3. Yep very windy in Hampshire too; I think we had it slightly earlier than you, I finally went off to sleep around 3am, with the wind finally dying down slightly at around 2am. Anyway, everything back to normal today, although there are homes without power a fairly short distance away from us. I had to nip out for one last minute present and I was surprised how few people were in the shops. I managed to get some good deals in the supermarket, and they had loads of meat and other Christmas 'bits' I have always shopped early for Christmas but I think if we are in the UK next year, I will just wait until Christmas Eve and go out and see what I can get!! Lovely to share 2013 with you, especially the time we spent in Norfolk and hope you have a lovely Christmas and New Year. Here's to 2014! X

    1. Glad we kept our power as we tend to lose it at the drop of a hat!
