Don't get me wrong, I love them, they are beautiful to look at and smell, but they are invasive.
This month, we are trying to eat from our freezer. It will be difficult to not use some meat and make more meals but we shall endeavour to not do so. Come next pay day, our meals will change slightly from the wholesome and filling winter things, to the more quickly produced warmer weather things. We don't tend to have so much in our freezer then.
Herewith our freezer list:
And here am I frantically snapping away with my camera at the lovely clumps of said grape hyacinths in our back garden; you are right, they ARE invasive, but I love 'em, and they cheer me up immensely, especially growing as they do up between the clumps of daffodils.
ReplyDeleteI really must get down to sorting our freezers and meal planning - family life a bit hectic at the moment so afraid it has to take a back seat!
They just get in the way where they are. They seem to migrate around 1' every year!
DeleteSorting out the freezers is my next job on the list to do. You left a comment recently on our newly retired status and I had to laugh DC when you said everything gets left until tomorrow and you're absolutely right. Then it's the next day and the next and so it goes on.......More hubby than me I have to say but life's too short to worry. So, the freezer will be sorted - soon.
ReplyDeleteI kept forgetting to cross things off the list so had to go out and check everything again!
DeleteI have to agree about the grape hyacinths being invasive. I have them in pots here and it does solve the problem of them taking over in the borders.
ReplyDeleteThey are in my neighbours garden but as he just leaves everything to its own device, they migrate into mine. I have filled 5 small trug's with them so far!
DeleteA freezer inventory is something I really need to do again, I know without looking I have to stop buying for this month and get using stuff up.
ReplyDeleteI wholeheartedly agree with retirement thing, there never seems to be a rush to get jobs done and most jobs are done at random but I have stopped worrying about it, as long as the house is clean and tidy The rest can wait.....and wait.......and wait!! :-)
Our house is kept tidy too and we make daily lists to try and do important tasks.
DeleteI suspect we'll be eating from the freezer this month too, as there is plenty in there, and also in the cupboards. Nobody around here seems to have grape hyacinths!
ReplyDeleteWe ate quite a lot last month from the freezer as well. Lucky you, not having neighbours with grape hyacinths. Just about another 2' of weeding them out (for this year) then I can get onto other gardening.
