So much for up to 28 days delivery. DB went out to the garage to put the car away and found the water butts had been delivered. That was 5 days from ordering! We had been in the back rooms most of the day, didn't hear the doorbell or a lorry arrive so have no idea what time they came.
Although slightly smaller than our others, out the front they seem huge and very intrusive. DB is not at all sure he wants them there but we shall have at least one out front as that was why I wanted them, to save my back just a little.
We had planned in putting them just outside one of the conservatory windows but they are too tall and blocking light for my plants. We shall try them next to the front window next and see whether or not they block our view!
I'll take a picture of where they end up once they are in situ:)
I am glad the water butts arrived safely - we are planning to get one for the back garden - which company do you use?
ReplyDeleteWe were waiting for a delivery last week. Bob, at the window in the front room, watched the guy stop the van outside, then walk down the far side of the drive, throw a parcel over the side gate then walk up the the front door with a 'delivered but you were out' card in his hand. He opened the door as the guy was about to put the card through the letterbox. Fortunately it was just a pair of shoes. Last time, it was a piece of computer kit that did the 7 foot drop, and we couldn't quite get there in time. Mercifully it was well packed and not damaged [but labelled 'fragile'] Trying not to rant but not succeeding!!
I put the company link on my post a few days ago "Saving water".
DeleteOops! so you did - I am sorry, I did not spot it the first time I read it. Thanks!!
DeleteThere can never be enough water butts. Even though we have had floods I'm sure they will be telling us there is a water shortage if we get a few days of sunshine, or am I cynical?

That is the 'problem' with living here, we never know what our seasons will do.
DeleteIm ashamed to say we dont have a water butt because we dont have much room for one. I know we should try and make room for one because it would definitely save money as we are on a water meter.
ReplyDeleteWell the slimline ones are very slim indeed and far less intrusive than a normal butt. Plus they can be linked together to give lots of free water:) We have decided if we really do find these intrusive to pull some garden netting around them and allow the clematis to grow around it. That should help disguise it a little more. Plus a bit of nice planting around its base would hide that better as well.
