First of all, welcome to Andrea via Bloglovin.
I have two dressing gowns which have seen better days and are a little dull. I had previously dyed one of them purple and it is beginning to fade. I shall do that another day. This time, I concentrated on a light blue summer dressing gown:
It often gets worn in the lounge during winter, when the wood burner gets going, it is just too hot in there to wear a winter one. I had hoped to find a jade sort of colour but as I need it to be blue or blue/green, settled for Bermuda blue:
Can you see the two metal bird hangers on the door, they were a little present from DB (other than the meal he treated us to).
Good idea to dye them to freshen them up. I have a very old gown that I use when I dye my hair and that has become multi coloured over the years! X
ReplyDeleteI enjoy doing it but it takes ages to get the machine clean!
DeleteIts a great idea to dye things and give them a new lease of life, I did this with jeans when the boys were at home, its amazing how much more wear you get out of them when they look like new again.
ReplyDeleteAnother brilliant and thrifty idea.:-) .......love the bird hangers!
It is cheaper than buying new buy the cost go dye has risen sharply.
DeleteLOVE your birdy hangers! And your dyed gown are great, it costs so little and is relatively quick. I have just done a load of blanket dyeing, but that post will have to wait as I've just done the Burwell Bash one - late as usual! I can't wait to cut into the blankets and make something . Enjoy your new gowns!
ReplyDeleteThe birds come in pink and cream but this colour is right for the bedroom. It feels a little like wearing a summer sky!
DeleteBermuda blue is a lovely shade! I used to dye towels to give them a new lease of life.
ReplyDeleteThe bird hangers are very pretty!
Thank you. It certainly is a cheerful colour.
DeleteI'm not sure if I've commented before, but I read your blog after reading Scarlet's and I was amazed to see you were dyeing your dressing gown and not only that in Bermuda Blue!! I just bought a sachet of it yesterday to dye my poor dressing gown too! Mine got some stains on it from my pesky washing machine and it looks awful so to eek it out till santa comes I thought I could dye it to disguise the stains a bit so I bought some bermuda blue to do the biz! I hope mine is as nice as yours. :)
ReplyDeleteHello, nice to hear from you. Great mind think alike it seems. Hope the dye covers the stains!
DeleteYour dye job is lovely! About a month ago I dyed a pair of pale yellow jeans that had faded A LOT. Well, to my surprise, they turned out YELLOW! I ended up donating them to Goodwill--I looked like a banana in them, only not so thin, LOL.Whoever buys them will also look like a banana, but maybe that will be the idea.
