Gardening and freezer stock take

Having looked at the weather forecast, I think the front garden (and hopefully a little bit in the back), should get finished with pruning, cutting back and maybe even some weeding. There are signs of things beginning to poke through and I need to get this done!

Both the outdoor and indoor freezers were checked yesterday as part of creating our menu until the end of the month. We do have 3 large milks in the outdoor freezer, but their numbers get added and changed constantly by hand:

You can see from this, that we still have quite a bit of food or useful standbys, some of which, will disappear during this month. Also note - the 3 boxes of chocolates and the tree decorations from Christmas, are still frozen:)

Have a lovely weekend folks.

    1. Is it a chest freezer, ours are both upright and never get empty as there is always leftovers etc going in!

  3. Well done Dc thats a nice neat list. I really need to do this but fear it might be like stock taking a freezer shop! I have far far too much food in stock, I did a rough menu plan for the month based on what was in the freezer and had more than enough to go at then bought some more meats when we went shopping.....shame on me. My hubby said I need slapping lol ....oops :-). My freezers are 16 cubic ft chest one and a 4 cubic foot half and half fridge/freezer.

  5. I wish I was this organised. Our freezer isn't very big and so I should know what's in it. Should being the main word there. In truth I have no idea. We keep the milk and bread for the week in it though and try to keep enough space for them other than that it gets filled with meat, veg and fruit and left overs ready to be reincarnated.

    1. By checking them each month, I can keep an eye on dates ensuring the outdoor ones come indoors to be used, and new things go outside.

  6. I'm curious - you freeze bags of apples? I only have a freezer in my refrigerator but its always full - or so it seems. Tomorrow (Sunday) I'll go through it and figure out what I have and what I need to order in my monthly grocery delivery. I'm trying to cut down on my grocery purchasing and by having my big order delivered once a month I am not tempted to make impulse purchases when in a supermarket. I was sick this month so ate only comfort food for about two weeks (recurring sinus problems) and it threw off my monthly menu. I've a lot left over in the freezer and pantry so order will be much smaller this month.

  7. They are windfall Bramley Apples, given me by a friend, huge amounts so they get processed into slices and frozen. We too normally do a monthly shop then weekly top ups. Rarely get tempted by anything, if its not on my list it doesn't get put into the trolley.

  8. I need to do a stocktake of our freezer, but when I'm feeling cold it's the last thing I fancy doing ... so it gets put off and put off.
