Our fruit harvest is better than everything else!

Here are a few photographs of just a things in the garden that will be harvested in the coming weeks. First, just some of our first year of brambles (blackberries):

Most fruit this year has been good. For the first time ever, we had nearly 8lbs off the 2 plum trees, mostly Victoria but some Czar. The blueberries gave us less but I pruned them last year and they didn't like it. The raspberries have been eaten to death and will be thrown away as they have never been good. Gooseberries were quite good and as you can see, so have the apples and pears.

      We look forward to it every year, some better than others. Problem is we have gravel under them and if they fall onto that, they have to be eaten quickly.

    Some superb crops. I do not grow raspberries- but almost EVERYONE I know has had a crop failure with them this summer!

      Mine have been rubbish for a few years now yet some I dug up and gave to DDiL grow really well. Maybe it is our soil!

    It all looks wonderful. Our crops are dismal this year; everything is so far behind compared to previous years. Some of the things just aren't going to have time to complete their growing cycle before the 'Summer' is over which seems such a waste of all John's time and effort. There has barely been a day that has been warm enough for us not to need a coat and the sunshine has been somewhat lacking!

      Annoying isn't it, such a weird year, worse still for those in Scotland I believe. Hope it won't cause a big problem for your food bills later in the year!

    It does seem to be a good year for fruit - we've done well with the fruit harvest this year - it's funny how we seem to have a glut of something each year sometimes fruit, sometimes veg or sometimes the greenhouse crops - nature's way I suppose - your chillies are looking good xx

    The summer raspberries have been lovely but just finished, several pounds of apricots have been frozen, jammed or bottled. Not many pears but lots of small cooking apples. Plums and greengages not ready yet. 2 figs eaten so far. Once again no wild blackberries anywhere around - too dry.

      Had to harvest our plums and ripen off the tree due to the flipping wasps!
