New crockery ...

First of all, welcome to Arlene L and rig via Bloglovin.

Whilst visiting DS and DDiL, we took advantage of a quick trip to Ikea to buy some tempered glass tableware. We have been looking for some for ages, similar to Corelle dinnerware but way cheaper. It didn't worry us what it looked like as long as it was light.

This is our current set, made by Next:
These 3 items weigh 1789g.

Our new items Oftast from Ikea:

Weigh 800g and are currently greatly reduced in price down to 50p each! We bought 8 of each.

When you have arthritis in your wrists and its playing up, carrying heavy items just aggravates it, so these should be much better. The Next set will go off to our favourite charity shop.

  1. Very nice, and what a difference in weight. We have had some great stuff from Ikea, we're still using plenty of things we bought in 2001 when the chap and I first moved in together.

  2. Pure white, timeless and elegant, and at that price you really can't complain :-) Nice find!

    1. We checked them out online so wanted to buy before they either disappeared or went up in price.

  3. There re times I do wish we lived near an Ikea. I am going to look if there is one on route to our new home. It might be worth a slight detour to pick up a few household items.

    1. We are at least 3 hours from any Ikea so always have to wait until we are visiting someone.

  4. That looks good. I have arthritis in both wrists and OH has to lift plates for me as they are so heavy. Must check those out as the dinner plates we have are enormous.

Mama's mercantile - There is an Ikea in Glasgow, don't know about any further north. We always go with the in-laws when we are up there

    1. Certainly a lot lighter so might help you. They are made of tempered glass so have good chip and scratch resistance (allegedly).

  5. I love Ikea. White is great as you can add all sorts of different pieces and it all still matches xxx
