Well done Andy....

It was painful to watch, but Andy Murray has finally made the heartbreaking but correct decision to finish playing tennis. Boy, will I miss him!

He hopes to try and carry on for another few months but I feel this is it really. Physical health has to come above everything else. Like he says, the pain is too much, he can't play how he wants to play, is no longer enjoying training or playing because of the pain.

I think anyone waiting for a hip or knee replacement would agree with him on that one.

Hopefully, once he stops playing, he can get a full hip replacement or an operation that would alleviate the worst of the pain.

Thanks Andy. You have fought hard, but sometimes, our bodies let us down and we just have to accept that. It is a shame your daughters won't get to see you play but at least you will have lots of videos and memories to share with them.

When the time comes, look forwards, not backwards and enjoy the next chapter of your life!

  1. I hadn't seen that. There's a deep sadness inside for him. It's so hard giving up something you love so much but I agree with you - health comes first and he has a bright future, I am sure.

  2. Totally agree-he really is risking his health playing at all. Hopefully, the hip will be sorted and he will find another passion in his life. His wife and family deserve to have a fit and active husband/dad who can enjoy time with him now.

  3. In a way I hope he doesn't win on Monday and doesn't play any more as playing with that pain must be doing even more damage.

  4. I've been expecting this for a long time. It would be silly for him to continue, it might see him crippled for the rest of his life, but as you say we tennis fans will miss him. It won't be the same without him. I could see him back in Scotland where he has his hotel and Judy is hoping to open a new sports centre where he might do a spot of training the up and coming youngsters.

  5. I think everyone has seen this coming for a long time. He tried his best and it hasn't worked out for his tennis playing career. His health is far more important to him and his family. He has nothing to be ashamed of, he has done Scotland and Britain very proud.

  6. So sad that his fabulous career ends this way. I wonder what he will do next?
