Country pictures on a walk

On our family research time away, we took the chance to walk from Lower Breinton to Hereford. It was a 7 miles walk to and fro but if you add in the time we walked around Hereford, it was probably more like 9 or 10 miles. We were certainly pretty tired by the time we got back to the car.

Anyway, herewith some pictures:

I went to a garden nursery this morning with a friend and invested in a few late summer plants. I also bought two Spring ones, one of which had finished flowering - a wood anemone. I shall look forward to it next year!

I've also potted on some tomatoes, tomatillo's and a cucumber. Then I sowed some radish, little gem, leeks and a few climbing beans.

    1. I certainly hope so although the weather forecast for later this week doesn't seem to suggest so at the moment. I'm late sowing mine so they will (and usually go out) first or second week in June, same as my tomatoes.

    1. We were 'housed' in Wales. Popped into Herefordshire to do this walk. Lots of pot holes aren't there!

    2. Yes the roads are dreadful here - even worse after last year's rain and then the cold winter :-(

We are a large but sparsely populated county so not much council tax for repairs!

  3. Nice walk. I`ve just planted my runner beans this Saturday. I also have now potatoes, leeks, corn, curley kale, red cabages, peas and gem lettuce in the open ground. Keeping fingers crossed that all will survive.

    1. Yes, I've been keeping an eye on your gardening endeavours - hope the beans will be okay.

  4. I potted up some ranunculus corms - a bit late but they should do for a late flowering. The garlic bulbs I think I shall leave until autumn - I'm hoping the ones I planted last autumn will come good, I've never had much luck previously.I think tomorrow is the last of our beautiful weather for a while; oh well, it's been a good Bank Holiday - how often can you say that??

    1. Good to be busy in the garden although I don't spend all my time in it as don't like to be 'out' in the sun all the time.

  5. I'm glad you had a nice time in Hereford. As a born and bred Herefordian, its nice to see other people enjoying the lovely countryside we have.

    1. Well the area we visited for the walk was very nice (other than the pot holes) and we had been many years ago doing research in and around Sarnesfield.
