Congratulations and Blimey o Riley!

First and foremost, and most exciting of all, is the news that DS. and FDiL. have got engaged. They were in Paris for the weekend, spending time with FDiL's pen pal when DS. popped the question. Exciting times ahead!!

Driving home yesterday, after a massage, the temperature on the car thermostat (after it had cooled down from 36C) finally registered 32C. That was far hotter than predicted. Mind you, as my massage lady had moved out of her working premises to a log cabin at her home, it was very hot in there as well. Made for an interesting massage cum sauna!

The predicted thunderstorms arrived here around 04:30 and the garden has been sucking it up ever since. Our water butts are currently half full again with more rain to come.

Outside our dining room window, is this beautiful hydrangea. It was wilting yesterday but looks lovely now.
Remember the milk cartons (I shall not be doing them again as they are difficult to keep moist). Well, this is the stage they are at now.
All in all, a lovely few days - if slightly on the too warm a side!

    1. Thank you. They have been together since uni and we were all hoping it might lead to this.

  2. Congratulations - wedding shopping coming up!!! My frugal tip - I went all round trying on dresses til I found what I wanted in Phase Eight at a cost of £300 - then I kept an eye on ebay and got the dress for £50. Someone else had bought it for a wedding, worn it once and then immediately sold it. My luck they had more money than sense, I will certainly wear it more than once, it's a keeper. The thunder storms have certainly given the plants a boost, the ground really needed it xxx

    1. Thank you Fran xx. Shopping might be kept to a minimum as I loathe it. Our garden is looking a lot happier at the moment, still more rain to come but it has got very himid again.

  3. I'm praying that some rain reaches us soon, we had a tantalising 20 or so drops and then it stopped and the sun came back out. My veggie patch desperately needs a water and all our butts are empty at the moment, fingers crossed we get some soon.

Congratulations to J and S, what a wonderfully romantic idea to propose in Paris, and it would be a brilliant honeymoon destination :-)

    1. Thank you. I hope you get some rain as well. I gather most of the country should get some either today or tomorrow. Hope by the time it has gone that the water butts will be nice and full!

  4. We had a cracker of a storm here in Essex around 6.30 this morning and really hoped it would cool down a bit. But no it's just as hot and clammy. Congratulations to your son and his fiancée on their engagement.

    1. Thanks Lynne. Don't think they have any plans at the moment. I think they want to enjoy this bit first. Strange thing weather isn't it. I once came home and the left side of the road was wet, the right dry.
