Almost finished...

First of all, welcome to my new followers, Faith Greening, Gardening with E and Creekymum!

At long last, bar wrapping one present, all Christmas preparations are done. Decorations are up, well not up as such as this year as for the first time, we have no ceiling ones up. The Welsh dresser in the dining room is dressed:
Here is a close up of the Santa rag rug:
Other years, it hasn't always been put out due to its colour not fitting into any room. Now we have painted the dresser, it blends in beautifully.

The tree has been put up in the lounge and decorated:
 As has the mantelpiece:
I might bring some greenery into the room nearer the time but it won't last long. Once the wood-burner is going, it just gets too hot in there!

Even managed to get some mince pies done. The first ones have a frangipane topping courtesy of Mary Berry. However her recipe said to cook them for 15 - 17 minutes. Being deep ones (which her recipe stated), we found they took just over 25 minutes!
The second batch just have a pastry star on them.
Most have now been frozen to prevent us scoffing them all at once.

  1. It all looks beautifully festive at yours! I am so envious of your beautiful dresser, that is my aim one day, to have a kitchen large enough to take a dresser with gorgeous china!

    1. We used to have two dressers years ago but gave them away. Now I am pleased to have this one. It sits in our dining room.

  2. Your house is looking very Christmassy DC and we too don't hang decs on the ceilings any more. Your mince pies do look good. You can always rely on Mary Berry for some good ones. I have a large Mary Berry cook book that I've had for about 25 years which I always refer to as my cooking bible and could not be without it. My decs are all done now. I've got little Leo coming round tomorrow night with my daughter for a Christmas baking night to make coconut ice, peppermint creams etc accompanied with a glass or two of mulled wine and a Christmas film on in the background.

    1. I didn't feel at all festive putting them up! I think over the years, we will use less and less then it isn't such a shock when they all come down.

  5. It all looks lovely! I think I should have frozen some of the mince pies I made a couple of weeks ago. I haven't dared make any more since then because every one of them was eaten by me!

    1. Oh, you naughty girl! We have both spent quite some time in the past few months losing weight. We shall try to not put too much back on!

  6. P.S.
Thanks for the email. I will reply soon. The quilt is almost quilted, then I just need to sort the binding and make labels for both quilts. My fingers are pitted and raw!
