Sometimes....

I really need to pay attention to what I am doing first thing in the morning!

DB was making the porridge, I had brewed the pot of tea and was busy filling up the washing machine. I put the distilled vinegar in the conditioning dispenser, grabbed the home made laundry gloop and poured it in.

Poured up the tea and then looked around to see where the milk was but could only find my laundry gloop, sitting by the tea pot.

A few minutes later, after checking under the sink and seeing the milk bottle sitting there, I realised I had put my washing on with the milk!!!

The machine was stopped and set to spin. The dispenser was filled this time with gloop and the whole thing set to go.

This was the first time I had put the washing on at the same time as making the morning tea. Shan't make that mistake again. Mind you, as DB said, could have been worse, we could have been drinking tea with laundry gloop in it:)

    1. Precisely - I think that particular cup of tea may have been repugnant!

  3. I have been known to put coffee in the cups, boil the kettle and make a pot of tea and then pour it on to the coffee. Not nice and a waste.

    1. And past the time of life, as we enter our dotage to look forward to as well!

  5. I've also been known to make similar mistakes. What I'd like to know DC is what does the distilled vinegar do for your wash? Does it soften the wash? x

    1. It does the same thing as conditioner but without the smell! (no vinegar smell either in case you are wondering. I use around 3-4 tablespoons. Line dried clothes seem no different at all (still tend to be slightly hard, until ironed) but in the tumble dryer, clothes seem to be just as refreshed and fluffy. Also, since I have started to use laundry gloop and vinegar, I hardly have any mould in the drawer or on the rubber part of the door. I was informed (don't know if it is correct) that fabric conditioner contains pig fat! Also the cost is far less. I am still trying a source a 5l container of vinegar which doesn't need to be posted.

  6. Fabric conditioner (and dryer sheets) do in fact contain animal fat- I only know this b/c when I was pregnant with E I couldn't stand the smell, thought (much less taste) of meat without an immediate trip to the bathroom, and I started getting sick every time I did laundry. When I mentioned it to the doc she said it made sense as they use animal fat. Wish I'd know about vinegar then, I just didn't use any softener for awhile b/c I just couldn't take it. :) What a "lovely" morning- hehehe we all doing something like this- just glad it wasn't the other way around- gloop in the coffee would be much worse.

    1. Distilled malt vinegar - looks like water in the bottle. Sarson's is the most common one found in the supermarkets, usually around 99p per bottle. Like I say, if you can find a 5 litre container without the need for it to be posted, it is far cheaper. Give it a go, I have been using it for 3 years now.

    2. I have put sugar, tea bag and spoon of coffee all in the same cup Lol.
I found 5 l of vinegar on amazon but i think postage was doubling the price so not worth it. Have you manage to find a supplier yet?
