One water butt in place!

First of all welcome to Val Darbyshire via Bloglovin and Chris Carter from here.

We have now both decided that having both new water butts in the front, close to the only down pipe, is one too many. Therefore this one has been out front, the other will go behind the garage to join its mates.

It took us longer than expected to dig up plants, carry a very heavy slab over and get it level, the pipe had to be cut twice, and washed before fixing, things needed replanting, but it is now done. We have covered it with netting and turned and tied in, one of two nearby clematis to grow over it:
I'll take another photograph in a few weeks time when it flowers. I'm hoping it will get more covered each year and look better and better.

The May entry for the War Diary Year IV, has now been added. Hope you enjoy reading it.

    1. Thank you. Feel free to use the idea. We have also done the same with our oil tank.

  3. You can't have too many water butts, but you do great job at concealing them! Ours are all in the back, not really got the space in front and a little too open to the whims and fancies of passers by.

    1. I don't conceal the back ones as they are behind the garage. I know what you mean though about passers by. We are hoping to get a fence up out front soon.

  4. Another one who thinks its a brilliant idea :-) we have 3 in our garden and its not enough, I think hubby would like one of those huge tanks at the back of the garage, we always seem short if rainwater during the summer months. X

    1. With hind site, we too would have had one or even two of those big 750l ones, much better than loads joined together.
