Whilst the oven was on for baking our 2 loaves for the week, I decided to
use up some of the leftover mincemeat from Christmas and made mincemeat
Chelsea buns, instead of hot cross-less buns:
Half were eaten over a few days, the rest were frozen. Talking of freezing food, whilst in freezer meal mode, after making a chilli the other day (vegetarian with a little bacon), there was enough left over to do these future meals:
Finally, having bought and tasted just a single batch of hot cross buns, here is one way that we like to serve them (and teacakes) for a change:
Toasted with cheese on the top although sometimes, we also like them as a cheese sandwich. Delicious!

Everything looks delicious, I like cheese on teacakes too. We didnt have any Easter treats or baking this year, we have given up lots if sweet things in order to lose a little winter weight. I am craving a nice cheese scone though!

DeleteWe love chilli and freezes well. I see that the latest trend is cauliflower rice! You grate or process the cauliflower and cook it in a little oil and it's just like rice but without the carbs. May try it. We are upping our vegetable intake much more so will try your courgette pasta and will definitely do a mushroom curry. Am also keen to try out Jamie Oilivers fish tikka massala which you make with frozen fish which is a third cheaper than fresh and frozen veg which is three times cheaper then fresh.

DeleteI have some mincemeat left from Christmas. I like it in flapjack, but nobody else does and I don't want to eat it all - well I do because it's really lovely, but I shouldn't!

DeleteWe are currently renovating the workshop so that we have more storage. We need another freezer for batch cooking and home grown. The cupboard space is needed for all my jars empty and full! (jam, marmalade, chutney etc)
