It seems the weather forecasters are worried and actually preparing us for horrendous weather! Get your fuel and food supplies organised now, don’t wait!! Not sure much snow will get us too early, more concerned about later in the week!
Dig out your thick woolies and socks and blankets, hats gloves and coats. The wind chill will make it feel like -15C towards the end of the week with daytime temperatures around -5C.
If you use oil for central heating and are getting low, get it topped up. Get logs in, others ready and organise newspapers and boxes of kindling. If they are right, you won’t want to be hanging around outside chopping wood.
Soup is a real winner, make it, add some kick to it to help make you feel warm.
Are you ready?

As I type this we have snow falling here in the East Midlands. I've been out to feed the birds and break the ice in the bird bath, have moved the potted outdoor hyacinths into the greenhouse and now I won't be going out again! Absolutely freezing today❄❄❄. Even my sensitive teeth caught some cold air!!
ReplyDeleteMy teeth have been sensitive for a few days now! Going to wrap up and go for a walk sometime today, just down the road and back.
DeleteReady as we can be...even have a shovel close to hand! x
ReplyDeleteOurs is in the garage but close by.
DeleteTick, tick, tick, tick .... all of the above done. Now bring on the snow 😊
ReplyDeleteEarly on seems to be Scotland, Lincolnshire and Yorkshire. More the end of the week for us, possibly!
DeleteWe woke up on Tuesday to heavy falling snow, an already thick covering and ungritted silent road ... absolutely gorgeous.
DeleteThank goodness for all my ticks 😊
Oil OK, Wood OK, LPG OK although it doesn't like cold weather so may have to cover the cylinders. Food OK.......... all this preparation ...I hope that the real thing isn't an anti climax although if it is I won't mind. (That makes no sense but I know what I meant when I started to write it!)
ReplyDeleteSitting in sun in living room while writing this and it is lovely and warm
We have drained and switched off outside taps as well. Won’t be the first time they haven’t quite predicted it correctly but maybe?
DeleteThanks for the reminder. The snow shovel is not propped up by the French window. We've had a bit but not all that much and I should be able to dig my way to the shed if necessary.
ReplyDeleteJ x
Thursday/Friday is meant to be the worst at the moment.
DeleteIve been for a walk earlier and it was freezing. I'll be popping out later for some shopping. Soup in the freezer and plenty of ingredient's to make more. Washing all up to date. Blankets and throws on sofa at the ready.
ReplyDeleteWe shall certainly have to wrap up well for our walk this week.
DeleteI am ready but hopefully as its coming from the East it won't hit as badly here (Isle of Lewis) on the West.
ReplyDeleteAs normal, the possible deposits keep getting moved around the map!
DeleteNo snow here yet but I'm always ready. We've had temps as low as -8 here lately so not too worried by the forecast.
