Tree root dog chew

This, for us and Ruby was a waste of money. I had been after one of these things for her to gnaw on and finally got hold of one. They are not cheap.

However, within half an hour, she had managed to nibble off three small marble sized chunks and eaten them. Also, her front paws, where she held onto it, got stained dark brown. It may well have gone onto to stain our carpets and furniture had she been allowed on it.

All in all, not brilliant and it is now in the bin.

  1. Never heard of tree root chews. Betty's got such strong jaws, she destroys all kinds of chews. The only ones that last her a long time are antler chews - like your tree root one though, they aren't cheap.

    1. Not tried those as I can’t remember if they break teeth or not.

  3. We had the same problem and it took ages to get the colour out of Mickeys paws.

  5. I've tried these and despite many people saying they were irresistible to dogs, ours, who chews everything he can get his teeth into including at times the furniture, sofa cushions, shoes, mattresses, stair treads(!) and underwear, showed no interest in it whatsoever. He chewed for about 10 minutes then went off to look for something else and hasn't looked at it since. This winter it's going to become a very expensive fire lighter!
