I don't eat much candy but you are right about the base disappearing. They say the bar size is shrinking too to avoid price increases....fool the consumer. We don't have Bounty Bars here in the US but it sounds great.
It was a while ago now. But in the last century, the wrappers were paper not plastic. I love the fact that you two share a Bounty - it's one of our treats if we full up with petrol on long car journeys. We take our thermal mugs of coffee , but pick up a twin Bounty ( or Snickers) at the petrol station. Dark chocolate is the best IMHO !
I used to love bounties and snickers but they all seem much too sweet now - wonder if tastes change as we age. I stick to ordinary chocolate in small doses except for Lindt Lindor for Christmas!
I haven't had a Bounty for years, other than the small ones in tins of chocolates at Christmas, so can't help with when the cardboard disappeared. My treat is a Freddo bar with a mug of steaming hot black coffee. The chocolate tastes much better to me when accompanied by the coffee. Haven't had one for a couple of weeks, so one is due!
I seem to have developed an aversion to coconut as it makes me choke! I find most sweets too sweet these days but have a square or two of very dark choclate most days with my last coffee of the day.

ReplyDeleteOr a twix! All these types of things are way too sweet for me and I would enjoy them more if they were less sweet.

ReplyDeleteWe’ve noticed the sweetness more since losing weight last year. Have to reduce sugar in everything now.

ReplyDeleteWe have gone right off Cadbury chocolate now as it all tastes different.

ReplyDeleteWe much prefer dark good chocolate as well.
DeleteOne of my husbands favourite treats. A rare treat these days. The bars have certainly got smaller over the years.
