Cleaning our windows. It is a job we both aren’t too keen on, on a par with dusting!
There is only so much grimy window staring I can put up with though. Out came the bucket, sponge, cloth and wiper. Now, the dining room and kitchen windows look clean at last, well, the outside at least.
Ruby was watching me intently. Up, down, to the left, to the right and circles. She looked like she was watching a tennis match. The insides can wait.
DB is going to also do the new lounge window as well as hose down the car. It was serviced and had its MOT a few days ago. We expected a bill around the £225 mark. It was just under £500 as it needed two front tyres and there is now a £20 environmental surcharge for disposal VAT bumped it up as well, always forget about it:(
Mind you it also had a quick valet and was washed, so that was nice. Ah well, just as well we watch our pennies.
I hate cars....or rather, I hate the fact they cost so much money, yet are so necessary (well, when you live in a rural area with no public transport, especially). I like the way dogs watch intently when we're doing something...Betty sometimes sits on the arm of my chair and stares at my laptop screen with me. She tends to stick her nose on the screen, though, or rest her chin on the keyboard, changing my page or making the screen size alter!
ReplyDeleteA necessity like you. Ruby would do the same but she’s not allowed up.
DeleteOuch! That's a big bill for the car.
ReplyDeleteI cleaned the outside of the windows at the back last week. I can see through the kitchen door and window again now :)
Certainly was. Love clean windows, just hate cleaning them!
DeleteWe live in a maisonnette and so our windows are all high up, it cost a fortune to get them all cleaned.

Might be a bit dodgy then trying to clean those.
DeleteWe invested in a window vac making cleaning the windows so much easier, worth every penny.
ReplyDeleteGot one but haven’t used it to wash with.
DeleteI bet that was painful. :-( Cars can be so costly and yet I, for one, wouldn't be without mine.

Living where we do, we need a car.
DeleteThe sun shining on the dirty windows last week finally persuaded me I really ought to do the insides, hope the window cleaner is round to do the outsides again soon - well worth the £20 for me now but he is a bit unreliable.
ReplyDeleteThat is a bit annoying, the one here seems to be similar.
DeleteI invested in a 2-pack cloth thing from Lakeland - about £5. I can honestly say it's the best method I've ever used (I've tried many methods, believe me!). Basically one cloth wrung in hot water cleans them and the other more textured cloth polishes them. So easy! No smears and very quick. Just how I like it as it's a job I detest!!
ReplyDeleteIn the forces, you used scrunched up newspaper to shine the glass.
DeleteI've always hated cleaning windows ... and I used to be married to a window cleaner with all the right equipment I could borrow. We have had a window cleaner here for the last few months, £15 for the house and the large workshop windows seemed a decent price, but I do feel guilty that he'll be starting to recognise the same smears on the inside every time he comes back.
ReplyDeleteI don't have to pay a recycling fee for any tyres we need replacing on the cars as I bring them home for planting in :-)
