Finally....

Ruby has left the beginners training class and moved to the intermediate one. DB had to leave halfway through as she was staring longingly at him and not paying attention.

The roaring wind outside wasn’t helping, making all of them a little skittish. One of the labs decided she didn’t like a particular corner, refusing to go anywhere near it each time she approached.

We bought Ruby a calf hoof to chew one, she likes to chew but not things that aren’t hers, thank goodness. It is more quiet than the bone, just hope her teeth can stand up to it. A slight smell but no doubt we will learn to ignore it after a while.

  1. Well done Ruby! Betty's a chewer too, not tried her on calves hooves though, perhaps we should. She had a mad half hour this afternoon, tearing round the house like a whirling dervish, breaking off every few seconds to jump on a chair and drag cushions off, or pouncing on her bed and biting it, or attacking husband's ankles. She's not done all that for months, it was like she'd gone back to being a naughty puppy again. Thankfully, she's worn herself out and is fast asleep. I think she's just not had enough exercise for a couple of days, she's had shorter walks as the weather's been so bad. Roll on Spring!

    1. She chewed it for 5 hours solid and is now asleep. It’s gone down by half!

    2. Did the hoof splinter at all whilst she was chewing it?

    3. I thought it would but it softens slightly as she chews. At least 6 hours chewing so far! We supervise her and as she gets down to the end will take it off her so she doesn’t choke.

    1. We don’t give her hide products, this was recommended by our raw food person.
