Pantry update...

As I now like to operate my pantry as a mini shop, I realised there just wasn't the space in the kitchen cupboards or the pantry 'under the stair' (a family joke as we live in a bungalow with no stairs).

After its first reincarnation, see here,

we decided to upgrade it further. It now looks like this:
In fact, another half shelf has divided the space bottom left. There is storage for the bread maker, at waist height, to save straining my back. The very top wide storage space is where all my home made preserves will be stored.

I have yet to sort it out ready for when I decant all my Brexit box items into it. The hoover has gone into the spare bedroom, freeing up several shelfs for storage. All in all, a huge improvement.

  1. We had a pantry in the corner of our kitchen when we first moved into our house but it got knocked through to make space for a seating area. I now have a free standing larder unit instead and find it very useful. A little organisation helps!

    1. Our kitchen is a bit small for a larder of any kind hence this arrangement.

  2. I love it, my goodies are all stacked in the kitchen cupboards and have to be moved all of the time to see what I want.

  3. I think a pantry is one of the best things a home can have! Sadly I don't have a proper pantry so I store tins, etc at the top of the cellar on shelves. In our younger days we rented a farm cottage for a few years - complete with walk in pantry - I miss it a lot !

  4. Still waiting to decide what to do with my Brexit box. If we get a date soon, I shall bring it out. If it is a longer delay, I shall get it out anyway and sort stuff which can go to foodbanks and stuff I should use up myself (foodbanks won't take stuff close-to-expiry, and some of my stuff is just that)

  5. What a lovely (and tidy) pantry....mine aren't nearly so neat. It's so useful to have pantry space isn't it, we're very fortunate to have the utility room with lots of wall cupboards.

    God bless.

  7. It looks great! Just be careful of the weight you put on the shelves. My sister had her pantry shelves collapse with the weight of her home canned fruit and veg. It was sad to see all that hard work gone in a flash.

    1. Each shelf is held in place by 4 brackets, including the top one. It also has the divider under it for extra support.
