Sorting my Brexit Box

Now that the time for leaving Brexit has passed (without actually leaving), I decided to sort through my Brexit Box. There were some items in there with best before dates of 2019 and quite a lot for 2020. They have now gone into my revamped pantry:

Before:
After:
I still have a box with items dated up to 2021, 2022 and a few 2023. They will get added to as and when I can and become my new box. It was like Christmas again, unpacking and restocking!

  1. I have stuck a list on the inside of the door., we're being super diligent about crossing off items as we use them. That way I can be sure there is a can of beans or pack of coffee in reserve.

  2. I ate my brexit chocolate store, now I have a brexit frothy coffee store! Don't think I have quite got the hang of this stocking up thing do you?!

    1. Ha! Coffee prices have risen though so at least you are okay there.

  3. I've used some of mine to replenish the cupboards today, some will go to a family member, but there's still quite a bit in the attic, so I won't have to shop for anything but fresh stuff for a while. Like you, I'll be starting another box.

    1. Soon, you won’t have to shop for much fresh stuff either, a lovely win win situation for the hard work by you both.

  4. Are you starting the box because things you put in might become very expensive, or because you might not be able to get them any longer? An inquiring mind from Canada asks.

    God bless.

    1. No one knows what will happen and that is the problem, so both reasons I guess. Quite a lot of the food has gone up from just 5p per item to £1 per item, just in the time I have been saving. Over a year, it adds up and I would prefer to not lose access to favourite items.

  5. I have a stock of basics in my cellar. I have 2 types of flour, pasta, tinned tomatoes, tea bags, some other tinned items. Just not sure what is going to happen when it happens so think it isn't a bad idea to have a few things put by.

    1. I think price hikes and port blockages are my main line of thought.
