Second dress

Same pattern, different material but skirt element the length the first one should have been:
This one was quicker as I learnt a lot from making the first one. After cutting out, about 4 hours sewing, pinning and ironing time and it was finished.

I did put a snap fastener on the back but then replaced it with velcro. DGD is still on her back a lot of the time and we both felt it would make a mark on her skin.

  2. Just a tip - apologies if you know it already- velcro is excellent, but always sew the stiff hooks on the inner fabric facing out, and the soft loops on the inside of the outer flap facing in towards the skin. That stops the child getting scratched when taking clothes on and off. It's obvious when you think about it, but easy to get wrong! The dress looks lovely - and right now grandchildren near and far are bringing joy to dark days xx

  5. Very pretty dress, I love to see babies dressed like this, rather than jeans.. but then I'm old.

  7. I love the dress and my mother made dress like them when my daughter started school and she made matching underpants

  8. That's gorgeous! So pretty, and how I like to see babies dressed. A couple of years ago I saw denim hotpants in a shop to fit girls from 0-3 month onwards. I was horrified!

    1. Thank you. Just need the sun to come back so we can see if it’s too big or not.
