I realised that we only had one mask each and have been washing them after use and they arn't always dry before another being required again. I have bought so called disposable ones for hairdresser use etc but needed more home made ones which I find more comfortable.
After sewing Ruby some mattress covers for her 'kennel' bed, now in situ:
I had plenty of material left over. This particular material is extremely closely woven and doesn't shed threads once cut like normal cotton so is ideal for masks. One for DB, one for me:
Hopefully that will make a big difference. These new ones are tight but once the elastic gives a little, they become more comfortable.
We've got one washable mask each, and loads of disposable ones. I see the ones you've made have elastics to go round the back of the head rather than over the ears....are they more comfortable, or fit better?
ReplyDeleteThe top part of the elastic sits on the crown of your head, the bottom bit around the neck, it is all one piece. We find them very comfy once you get the knack of sitting it on your head. It can slide forward and backwards but once that sweet spot is found, it sits just right and never moves. We find this way that the masks sit snug over the face.
DeleteAt last Boris has made a decision regarding masks. Your masks are great.
ReplyDeleteThanks. First he was thinking about it, then Gove said not. As you say, finally. I am fed up being just about the only one in a supermarket wearing one!
DeleteI made enough masks for us to use them for a week before having to wash. Not that we will need that many, but I always seem to over prepare.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Good idea. We don’t go out much at all so two (or three in future) should be okay.
DeleteAs you know I have made so many for everyone locally but only got around to making them for us yesterday as we haven't been anywhere. Not sure how I am going to get on as my glasses keep steaming up.
ReplyDeletePeople have suggested a tiny drop of liquid soap/soapy water is supposed to help. I have had to write a lot bigger to save wearing specs when supermarket shopping.
