Whilst the machine was out, I also created two mattress covers for the 'kennel' that Ruby sleeps in at night. The current mattress has brown fur type material and is an absolute beggar to hoover and wash without putting hair into our machine. I do have a large special dog wash bag but it won't fit into it.
I used two different scrap pieces of material and my new popper machine (KAM Snaps) to allow the end to close. They are basically two giant pillowcases:
Should look far nicer than the brown thing and I can change them every week to keep her sleeping area clean.
Bertie doesn't shed as such but I get hair on things for a day after he's clipped. I bought a thin fleece blanket in a sale and did exactly the same as you, made 2large pillowcases. Much easier to keep his bed clean.
ReplyDeleteThe room starts to smell a bit when they need washing so being able to strip it off should be much better.
DeleteLovely fabric. I do the same saves trying to dry the cushion particularly in the Winter.
ReplyDeleteI will put a picture on when it’s on the bed.
DeleteI keep looking at KAM snaps adverts and have wondered how easy they are to apply. Do you find them easy to fix? Or do some get damaged in the process?
ReplyDeleteHave only had to remove one as we put it in the wrong place. I apply them to the fabric and put that into the rubber ‘cup’ thing and hold it whilst DB squeezes the tool.
