Pears, brambles and tomatoes

The tomatoes are finally getting ripe and brambles continue to ripen. The brambles will be coming out of our ears soon:

On average we get about 6lb per year which is more than enough for us. They get flash frozen individually on a large tray before being packed into bags and labelled. We still have some from 2018.

The red pears are dropping off the tree so we have harvested them. A smaller crop than last year but welcome nonetheless:

  1. That looks some real quality fruit there. The pears look lovely - I think I need an early eating pear for around this time.

    1. Considering the pear is in effect a cordon grown over half an arch, it does well. Brambles are good, big and juicy but not always sweet.

  2. I miss the brambles that we had at our old house. The pears look delicious.

  3. Just had to look it up on Google, but I believe we call brambles blackberries. They grow wild in the pacific northwest & are super yummy in jam, pie, etc.

    1. We call them blackberries as well just to confuse things. I have always called them brambles, seems more homely somehow. They grow wild here as well but ours are cultivated and probably about 7 times larger.
