Still here but cheesed off!

Nothing much to say this last week as I have just been so angry with Covidiots! Drinking like there is no tomorrow in pubs before spilling out onto the streets to hug and party. Pouring into local shops, off licences and supermarkets to buy yet more booze with no masks and no social distancing.

Why oh why wasn't there a complete 10pm shop shut down curfew. Are they so desperate for booze they have to go buy more and endanger themselves and everyone around them.

Covid cases are rising quickly now. I reckon quite a lot of them, are related to all the protests a few weeks ago, but we won't ever know. Now, partying on the street, more protests and ignoring local restrictions will see another surge in a few weeks time.

I think the next thing will be another lockdown, can't see any way of avoiding it if numbers continue to rise and people keep doing what they want rather than what they should. Then they will all moan about Christmas and New Year being cancelled. I don't have any faith at the moment in those events being allowed to happen so yet more missed time with granddaughter:(

The thing that has cheesed me off the most though is yet again, missing out on seeing her. They should have been here this coming weekend but have been put into a higher level tier than us so that is out the window - again.

Its very difficult to feel like grandparents when you can't see and hold your grandchild! They keep us informed with video chats etc but it just isn't the same. Mind you, she did decide to tummy shuffle backwards on camera yesterday so that was lovely to see. Slow but sure but she did it. She has been teething for quite a while but no sign of any yet.

Finally got invited for my flu jab, well, to be put on the list for when the next lot is ordered. They seem to be struggling to get enough for those that should be having it, let alone for all those 50 and over.

Ah well, hope you all continue to stay safe and well.

  1. The economy will come first. He can't keep bailing out businesses. Eat out to help out encouraging people to get out only served to start the whole covid thing again. I think you're doing the right thing keeping yourself safe.

  2. Oh that's so sad and annoying about not seeing your little granddaughter.

I'm trying to think up plans and ideas for being alone through the dark winter months when even the few things I once did to fill the days are all off.

Still feeling very safe here in Suffolk

    1. Same here although being a lone parent I think you still qualify as a support bubble.

  3. I feel so sorry for you not being able to see your granddaughter again, you must be missing out on so much of her development, that must hurt. Yes some people are downright idiots.

    1. Certainly are on both bits. Video calls are great but her not knowing us and not holding her stings quite a bit.

  4. Don't blame you for feeling upset - I see the pictures from UK news and have to say I've been pretty shocked at the lack of compliance. I ride the subway into work a couple of days a week and it is almost 100% compliance with mask wearing and anyone not wearing one or not wearing it properly usually gets yelled at.

We've had a bit of a surge, mostly related to indoor restaurant eating (so that has been closed again) and now restaurants are getting creative about how to keep us warm on patios!
The other source of infection has been traced to family gatherings, parties, sneaky wedding receptions - that sort of thing - so more bylaw officers have been hired, police are stepping up patrols and we are encouraged to call in and report! Most folks here are tired of the "let's educate them" stance - it's been 7 months - FINE THEM or toss them in jail for the night!
I'm just so used to wearing a mask now that sometimes a friend will have to remind me that its ok to take it off when I'm walking outdoors in the middle of nowhere!
Politicians and doctors have been very blunt - if we want any sort of Christmas even approaching normal - then we need t get the numbers down NOW - so the choice is ours.

  5. I am impressed by places where they've diligently painted arrows going up the left side of the street and down the right, to enable shoppers to maintain a social distance. Less impressed by the people who ignore them and walk the wrong way, even between couples walking together.

  7. Don't blame you for being cheesed off, the situation here is worse and I am ever more concerned daily, awaiting word of a friend's husband who has spiked a fever...bring spread by asymptomatic folks not doing as they should. Dangerous times.

    1. Looking at the figures worldwide, it is evident a second spike is occurring. Hope your friends husband is okay.

  8. An entire department has been shut at the hospital today and all staff sent home to isolate as one has tested positive after being contacted by track and trace. They're J's friends; fortunately it's a couple of weeks since he's seen them.

    1. Doesn’t have to isolate then due to not seeing them for two weeks?

  9. Many of our new Covid cases are from people like you are speaking about. Then there was the large church in a northern community that decided to put on an event. According to the news we are now seeing the second and third generation of infections from this.

Stay safe and do what you need to do to stay that way.

    God bless.
