As with most dog walkers I believe, we know the names of dogs rather than their owners. The exception being the people who we actually know.
We bump into Birmingham Bieba, a dog who is called Bieba (after the fashion clothing rather than Justin) and whose owner is a Brummie.
Then there is Mrs Fluffy (used to be Turkey Head) - thats the kind of hat she wears. D., with the ears who always wears a hat with earflaps. Mr. yellow chairs - a chap who has yellow seats in his garden. Mr. Blacksmith who lives in an old blacksmiths cottage. The pom poms, who are big balls of fluff who bark a lot, ferrets on a string and Mrs. hurry up who has a very small dog practically dragged around as it can't always keep up.
We bump into others whose dog names we know but not their owners, owners we know but not their dogs names or owners we know and their dog names. All go here!
Very interesting dog names.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
There’s probably more but that’s all we could remember for now.
DeleteWe know all the dogs names when out walking. My fox red is known by most around here, only the other day I heard his name being called, by a child passing in a car, I had no idea who she was!

One little girl we meet shouts our to our dog as well.
DeleteOdd isn’t it, even though we have socially distanced chats!
ReplyDeleteMickey, our dog likes to sit in a chair near the window and the local children wave to him as they pass. Like you we know most of the dogs names when out walking. When the girls were small we used to know all the local childrens names but rarely their parents names. Strange...
ReplyDeleteWe knew huge amount of parents and children when we both helped out at our village school before it closed. How quickly things change.
DeleteI think that's often the case - certainly here. Though now I know quite a few owners as well. The dogs are great - Ernie and Fox, Logan and Buddy, Artie, Sammie and Ted - a cast of thousands within walking distance!
ReplyDeleteMaybe its a British thing?
DeleteHaha- that is hilarious and so true.
ReplyDeleteNot quite sure why though.
DeleteWhen we were first married we didnt know what the little girl next door was called. Unless she really was christened madam.
ReplyDeleteTrue about dog names, my favourite one round here is Jeremy, hes a beagle.
Our favourite is a black cocker spaniel called Alan. We also see a lady with a beagle but don’t know either of their names.
DeleteMemorable dogs' names - Deefa (D for dog) and at a stables where I used to help as a youngster was a Jack Russell called Damit. He was a wanderer and was often 'found' miles away by tourists and handed in to the police who brought him home again. Personally I'm not keen on human names for animals. Our first dog was called Fling, his mother was Fly and his father was Spring. We see lots of dogs being walked along the cliff at the bottom of our garden but the only name I know is a Scottie called Dougal that bit me as I talked to its owner.
ReplyDeleteI have heard Deefa for dog before, quite cute. I can't imagine what Damit was so named. Ruby was originally known as 4 spot but that was a bit long and impersonal we felt.
