Lovely sunrise at 08:15

DB took this lovely picture this week, out on his early morning walk with Ruby:

So pretty:)

I don't know why, but when I run out of homemade washing machine liquid, I always have to make myself make some. It was done yesterday and took less than 5 minutes. Really woman, pull yourself together!

So simple to make. Into an empty 4 pint plastic milk bottle container, add:

1/4 cup washing soda crystals followed by about a cup of near boiling water - swirl to blend.

Add 1/4 cup washing up liquid (I use Ecover) or washing machine liquid detergent (I would use baby stuff) - swirl to blend

Gently top up with cold water to avoid creating too many bubbles. I make two containers up at a time.

BEFORE USE: Shake gently then use about 1 cup per wash.

Costs a small amount of money and cleans most clothes except perhaps heavily soiled items. If I know of a stain, I use a stain remover bar before washing.

You can if you wish add a few drops of essential oils if using a scentless liquid. Tea tree and lavender work well.

  1. I just use Ecover washing liquid so as to minimise the bad effects on the environment. Aren't the washing soda crystals bad for the environment - and possibly your clothes?

  2. I have never made my own washing liquid before, I may give this a go. Do you use a softener as well.

  3. Does homemade washing liquid work in a high efficiency machine? Must do some research as your recipe looks easy.

    God bless.

    1. I don’t know is the simple answer. This produces none to little suds, especially when using Ecover washing up liquid in the recipe.

    1. Can be a bit hit and miss. Sometimes, it is several shops before we find any. I buy two at a time to be sure.
