My card to DGD for her 1st Birthday and a gift for DB

I wasn't quite sure what kind of card to make for DGD but settled on a number one theme:

The yellow streak is to cover her name! She won't know what it is of course but I hope her parents like it anyway! It's based around Beatrix Potter bunny characters and the birthday greeting at the top was made using a die to stamp it out from Ruby coloured rainbow mirror card.

DB had requested a 'grime guard' to fit his Q-Snap needlepoint frame. I finished it on Friday:

It is mainly to stop the Aida from discolouring where he holds it. YouTube is a mine of information as well as discovering Q-Snaps, he found the tutorial for this and has learnt how to start and end his sewing in a neater fashion.

It is a picture of Ruby sitting in front of a terracotta tub of French Marigolds. Her colouring is a bit light but we can tell its her.

  1. Very nice. Have you thought of suggesting to grand daughter's parents that they scrap book her cards so she can see them when she is older? That would be a nice keepsake.

  3. Lovely card. I've heard of a few men who can sew and knit...mine can't.

    1. He can’t knit. Had to do basic sewing for the RAF. His dad also did needle point.

  4. Your husband has the patience of a saint with that stitching - amazing, and I might pinch you card idea for my 1 year old grandson next month, although mine wouldn't look so good!

    1. Feel free. However, and lesson learned, it was too tall, had to make an envelope. Despite extra padding, it was folded to put through their letter box, doh!

  5. Such a wonderful card and very impressive needlework. The state of some of the parcels we got over the Christmas period makes me wonder what they do with them.

    1. Thank you. I don't know how he has the patience, especially with his eyes getting worse. Our parcels for the most part were okay, just a few that were damaged.
