Empty shelves

I'm sure it must depend on when you shop but it was apparent that quite a few shelves had their tins, jars and packets pushed towards the front. They were empty behind and nothing on the top out of reach shelves that normally house extra stock. However, the frozen vegetables and toilet paper were well stocked, unlike our last visit.

I needed Milton fluid for cleaning with and had to get a 500ml bottle rather than my usual 1 litre one. There was hardly any there and I only took one:

Toothpaste was low, and an entire suite of shelves down one side would have been empty but they made it look full by filling up with many different products from around the store.

Didn't check the meat as I had already bought it from Lidl.

  1. I'm looking for a tube of Germalene antiseptic cream - 4 shops in Diss and all empty gaps.
    Haven't missed anything else yet.
Good news about Andy M. Heard on radio this morning that he was through another round - didn't even know he was playing!

  2. We only have Tesco and a Co-op, both with lots of gaps last time I went but this could have been due to the cancellation of a Ferry. I keep a full pantry and freezer at this time of year.

    1. I can imagine that ferry cancellations are your usual supply problems but many shops are complaining that only half their orders turn up with no warning about the shortfall.

  3. I noticed some gaps in our Aldi and, significantly, there weren't many assistants loading up shelves and there usually are, to the extent that they block the way.

    1. We tend to think it is Brexit causing it but I read quite a few USA sites and they are saying the same thing.

  4. I've seen gaps in Sainsbury's and Aldi, along with big price hikes!

  5. Yes we also in the US are having some shortages and limits on toilet paper and paper towels in Sam's club and Costco. Wal-Mart had none of the frozen bags of broccoli I like. Pork, beef, and chicken are so high in price that we are glad we shared a 1/2 cow with my daughter a couple of months ago. Seems people don't want to stock shelves here so that can be a problem.

    1. If we ate more meat it would be the way to go. From what I can gather with you, are ships stocked outside ports and no way to unload them?

  6. So far nothing seems to be empty here on our shelves in Saskatchewan Canada, but we are being warned that shortages could and probably will happen. I need to get my Christmas baking supplies (and Thanksgiving) so will do that over the next few shopping trips.

    God bless.

    1. That’s why I wanted to get meat, especially good quality tinned, just in case.
