Nothing shows your age more

 Than a fall:(

It was tiny and a bit my own fault but there you go. I was lifting the hose over a small 18" high fence and started to feel dizzy as I was doing so. Consequently, I didn't lift my back lower leg high enough. It caught and I thought, being clever, I would just use the toes on that foot to grip the fence but didn't manage it.

I grabbed hold of the fruit cage netting, ripping the corner off one nail. The front of my ankle caught and scraped on the top of the fence and down I went, knees first onto gravel. Luckily, I managed to stop the full impact on my knees with my hands so ended up with deep marks on knees and hands rather than a myriad of cuts!

Still shook me up though. I am keeping an eye on my blood pressure as it has been lower than normal of late. If it keeps happening, I shall have to try and run the receptionists gauntlet and to see the doctor.

  1. Oh no, hope there's no lasting damage! Yes low blood pressure makes you dizzy, good idea to keep an eye on it. I read somewhere that when you're younger, you fall over - when you're older you 'have a fall'. Makes it sound so much more dramatic....although if you're really old and infirm it probably is!

    1. It was more of a heavy trip but called it a fall as I landed on all fours. Thank goodness my bones appear strong for now. That’s how my MinL broke her wrist.

  2. Hope you are feeling better soon. I'm not sure which is worse, to fall in the privacy of your garden, where there may be nobody around to help you up - or to trip in the market place, where lots of people observe, and make a great fuss(and hopefully someone gives help)

    1. Fall in public for me I think but one at home with no one there would be bad.

  3. Wishing you a speedy recovery, blood pressure issues can certainly be a problem. I smiled at your comment about the receptionists gauntlet...

    1. Most of our receptionists know my voice but doctors are very reluctant to see you in person.

  4. Ouch - I bet that hurt both physically and emotionally. Not nice to get a shock like that. I'm so glad it wasn't as bad as it might have been. xx

    1. Thanks, so was I. I lost my rag with myself for being so stupid.

  5. Hope you're ok! It shakes you up.
My dad fell last week (nearly 80) trying to look at something under his car on his drive and didn't quite make it to the floor first, fell and rolled on gravel. Badly cut forearms!! My mum wasn't too sympathetic, saying no need to be doing that in first place.

    1. DB kept asking if I needed plasters so at least he heard it although my swear word might have reached him first:)

  7. I hope you heal well and quickly. Falling is very scary. Since I suffer from severe osteoporosis (found out after breaking the same wrist twice after falling) I am extremely careful.

    God bless.
