How come...

When I look at myself in the mirror to brush my hair, I don't look too shabby.

Photographs are another story entirely. I look so old and tired. Not just me I know but - I don't like it!

Sausage rolls in the oven today. Cheese and sausage ones and regular. Once cold, they will be frozen. Mince pies another day.

  1. I feel the same way. Then I think I have earned every wrinkle by laughing and smiling, that each grey hair on my head brings back a memory of my children. Don't feel too bad then.

    God bless.

    1. Yeah, just have to ignore it methinks, just annoying more than anything.

  2. On some recent photos I look drugged up, on others I look younger than I am, and others are a fair likeness. It's said the camera never lies, but I don't believe that!

    1. Me neither. I think having gone thin in the face doesn’t help.

  3. When my mother had a photo taken for her bus pass many years ago, she was shocked that her hair came out totally white on the photo. She described it as "looking like she'd been dipped in bleach"!

  4. I'm exactly the same.. I rarely see a nice photo of me and usually look fat. I've learned to accept that I am just not photogenic. sigh..... Christmassifying continues here.

  5. Photos are so misleading. And dont forget that a high proportion of ones that appear in print these days have been retouched. Jackie is right- these lines and grey hairs have been earned through love. And is your true face, not a botoxed, manipulated puppet. I saw Anne Robinson the other day on TV - she may be 'unlined' but she doesn't look comfortable at all.

    1. Indeed she doesn’t. I looked better when I had coloured hair but can’t be bothered nowadays.

  6. My son put a photo of me on facebook once and I told him I didn't like it because it made me look old. His reply was "mum you are old"

  7. Hell Dc, I look rough in the mirror, rough in real life and downright ragged in photographs. Probably my best photographs are on my passport and upon my driving licence, I just look like a terrorist on these!

  9. EXACTLY ... I leave the house looking presentable and normal and when I re-check myself in any mirror or shop window or see a photo of me I look like The Lady in the Van.

It's the same when I look at myself front-on I look lovely and slim ... and then I turn sideways!!

    1. Gravity pulling everything south doesn’t help I am sure.
