Mask wearing

As far as I know, we are supposed to still be wearing masks in shops? In Lidl, the manager was swanning around without one, he wore it last week. A group of school boys weren’t wearing theirs either. Two men and one woman didn’t wear them either. Have previously seen these wearing one.

Then went to Morrison’s where almost everyone had one on.

People, flu has just started in Europe, wear one against that at least!!!

  1. If there be one thing learnt from my life Dc, people are not to be understood and the most intelligent can be the biggest of arses. Here endeth today's lesson :)

  2. I nipped into Sainsbury's recently (masked). There was a young lad assistant in the foyer handing masks out to incoming shoppers, not many takers and there were loads of people inside the shop unmasked. Surely all those can't be exempt.

  3. I couldn't agree more. I was taking my two OAP neighbours to the coffee, cakes and chat group held every Tuesday morning in the local pub. I mentioned last week that I was anxious about going - the place is poorly ventilated, nobody wears a mask, and we are not distanced in any way. I said I would still take them, but not stop myself. They agreed - but this week have gone again, as the lady in charge offered to collect them on her way past. I think they feel I am over reacting, but I am concerned about passing covid on to my vulnerable family members, even if I remain ok. Shops do seem to be being inconsistent [our Lidl staff all still masked this week]

    1. Yet they will be the first ones to complain if they catch it no doubt.

  4. Yes, mask wearing in shops is (supposedly) compulsory again, although I've seen quite a few, staff and shoppers, not wearing them. We shall continue wearing ours, for as long as it takes.

    1. Same here, think Boris has yet again made a mistake by relaxing it next week.

  5. Most people still seem to be masked here. I did hear that the strain of flu in Europe is not what we've been vaccinated against, so all the more reason to keep wearing a mask. I do not want flu having just had covid!

  6. In japan we wear them even if we feel unwell. Hence whilst I have been here I have caught it! I am glad to be going home today as I feel like you are banging your head against a brick wall and no one is listening l
What’s worse is I’m pregnant and I had to go to hopspital which I have to pay for. And that ward had an outbreak as well! I have told my parents I will only return when sanity and common sense returns or mask wearing is made law

    1. I love it that Japan does that, wish more countries did. Hope you return safely. Wear your mask on the plane.

  7. We'll be wearing them for the foreseeable future even if we get the go ahead to go without. I'd rather be safe than sorry... and they keep my face warm on my commute to work :-)

  8. It is still compulsory, but as you said there are quite a few people not taking this seriously. Lots of shops have boxes of masks free of charge at the doors to try and encourage folk, but they don't seem to press it if people are mask-less ... I don't blame them there are some very stroppy and rude anti-vaxxers and anti-mask wearing people out there.

  9. I have to say hand on heart, the mask wearing in my area is very good. And as you say with flu about to hit from Europe, keep wearing them and sanitising your hands. Tania x Back blogging after a long break.

  10. I'm in the US, with the good fortune to be in a state with a mask mandate, and also with the good fortune to be in an area where *most* people comply with it. The few that don't, I just have to assume they don't care for their lungs or their ability to breathe without problems and are actively trying to get sick, because it's the only way I'll maintain any level of sanity. I'm masked everywhere I go; I don't want the flu, COVID, or even a cold, thank you very much! The less worry, the better!

    1. I think it is so long since people have had just acold, they have forgotten how lousy they feel with it.

  11. I'm in Scotland and I have to say that where I live not only is it unusual to see someone in a shop without a mask many of us wear them in the street also. I can't say if this is the case all over the country but talking to friends and family it seems to be the norm but them we still have a mask mandate thank goodness.

    1. Wonder how long you will keep the mandate now we are relaxing next week:(

    2. We have never taken the mandate off no matter what other countries have done. We have been wearing them for almost two years now and the latest info I have is that it will be some time yet. Nothing is guaranteed anywhere anymore I think.

    3. Indeed not. I started wearing a mask March 2020 but was wearing a tied up scarf for two months before that as I had heard something horrible was coming.

  12. I heard today that Boris lifted all mandates in England. I think though that I would keep right on wearing a mask no matter.

    God bless.

    1. We certainly will. A friend is two weeks post Covid and is breathless all the time. She is triple vaccinated as well and under 50.
