Home Blood Pressure Monitoring Kits

Our current kit (from Boots) is now 10 years old. They are supposed to be serviced every 2 years to make sure they are measuring accurately. We both check ours and it always coincides with the surgery reading.

However, we want to change it now. Trying to get it serviced is a nightmare and now costs more than the device. That is such a shame so we are getting another one.

  1. Hmmm - you make me realise I really ought to do the same. I think mine might even be a bit older. Thanks for the reminder.

    1. We believe ours is still ok but are being sure.

  2. Crazy that a repair is almost as much as a new one! I've been looking at these in Boots, some are quite cheap. I've been on BP medication for 11 years, minimal dose, but I was put on it when I was 3st heavier than now and I'd be interested to know my average readings now that I'm 12st. It's never regularly checked via the GP.

    1. My BP hasn’t changed as such but minimal dose was to stop it getting higher. It often goes up a little with age.

  3. At least the new machines are quite reasonably priced these days aren't they, it's a good job as most GPs seem to expect you to have your own and provide readings as and when they need them.
