Where will it end?

The energy price hike prediction has risen from 54% to 65% and now 78%! It could get even higher by then, who knows. These hikes will affect anyone not on a fixed rate contract. Once your contract ends, you will feel it deeply.

If you are not on a fixed rate contract, add 78% to your current tariff, see how much it will be. If you can find an 18 or 24 month fixed rate contract for less than that, think seriously about changing over to one BEFORE the end of September at the latest.

  1. Martin Lewis was on the Today programme on Radio 4 this morning. He was furious and it sounded like almost in tears at the governments lack of response to help the poorest families

    1. The amount of profit these companies are making is disgusting. If I could be off grid I would.

  2. At the previous estimated hike in October and January, we were heading for £500 a month! I did our readings today as today was the direct debit day - we're 186.00 in credit. So I requested with Eon to provide readings monthly, cancel the direct debit and pay for just what we use. Can't do that!! My tariff is only doable with a direct debit. I would need to change tariff to be able to manually pay - there are no other tariffs that we can afford. Utter b.....s!! They've reduced the monthly amount to £200 instead - better than nowt.

    1. Every bit helps. People need to battle their corner and not let them hold too much of our credit.

  3. We are with Eon and changed from 3 monthly bills last year and now read the meter monthly and enter online the amount is calculated and we pay online. This is not the cheapest way to go but since we started paying monthly I feel I am only paying what I've used and not some estimate that seems out of touch with actual usage. I've also found that my use has come down a lot as I check each day and can see if things are getting out of control.

    1. Sounds a great idea. Each one of us needs to find what works best. For example, since changing to a water meter we use way less water than before even though we weren’t wasteful.

    2. Hi Jessica - did they make you swap tariffs in order to be able to pay monthly? I'm disappointed that we can't do it.

  4. We are having increases here in Canada. Not as high as yours but electric is going up 11% and natural gas 16%. We will definitely be thinking of ways to save on both. Oh and utilities went up 10% already (water, sewer, recycle, garbage and library fees).

    God bless.

    1. Our council tax, similar to property tax I think, goes up the most each year. That, fuel and food are a triple whammy without the extra pension to cope. Good job we have saved over the years.

    2. Same here, I often wonder about those who didn't and how they are coping.
