End of War Diary

The final installment of our War Diary for Year VII has been published. Although we carried on for much longer, (and much of its ideals are still practised today) dealing with rations and trying to live a simple life, I only wanted to print those bits that corresponded with the actual years of WWII.

I hope you enjoyed reading it and have found it useful.

  1. Well done. This was a massive undertaking at the time you did it, and no doubt it has been almost as much of an undertaking to get it all written up.

I think I've said it before but this really should be a book.

    1. Thank you but I guess it will never happen. I'm not into self publishing or fiddling around with an e-book.

  2. Thank you for your Wartime Diaries which, by and large, were very accurate. I was nine-years-old when War was declared and remember the rationing years so well....exchanges within the family, i.e. a quarter of a pound of tea could be exchanged for l lb. of sugar and the dreaded dried egg. It never worked when making cakes : they never rose. I can remember standing in a queue because the butcher had rabbits for sale and they were off-ration. Unfortunately, they were sold out before it became my turn and I cried so the butcher very kindly let me have half a pigs head. This made brawn and soup and enough meat to make potted meat. I could bore on for ages when what I really wanted to say was Thank You for reminding me of rationing.
