My beautiful peony is coming into bloom. I have 4 plants, all the same variety and they open in turn from the top of the front gravel garden to the bottom. I always like to pick some as they have a nice scent.
Here is another photograph of my front garden (well some of it) taken through the north facing lounge window.
The poppy and iris have just about finished, although after a hard cutback, the poppy will give a return flower around August. The geranium is in full swing and I am eagerly waiting for some plants I bought last year, to come into bloom. I am hoping to have some more white and yellow in this garden.
That peony is stunning! Your front garden is pretty.. love it :o)
ReplyDeleteThank you. I dug some up from my mother in law's garden after she was widowed and we moved her down.
DeleteWhat an abundance of flowers in your garden, it looks stunning! And the peony is just beautiful :)
ReplyDeleteIt does look good now but in a few weeks will be a little bare. It seems to have a break of a few months then starts up again.
DeleteIt's looking very good, ours is similarly colourful, there are just lots more weeds, which I'm leaving for the bees this year .... any excuse :-)
ReplyDeleteBut a good one really, the British bee population is in dire straights and if me not weeding helps even a couple of bees survive I'm all for it :-)
I know, that is why I try to have as many single flowers as possible. Never know if the bees make it into the centre of the peony until its fully opened and about to drop.
DeleteGorgeous garden DC. So pretty. I love peonies too. Just catching up with all my reading after our holiday.
ReplyDeletePatricia x
Thank you. Hope you came back refreshed, not much longer til you get your result is it?
DeleteI too love peonies and that pink one is a stunner x
ReplyDeleteIt is rather pretty but don't often get to see its yellow middle!
DeleteThat is so pretty, and the peony is fabulous! I've never had them in my garden, but there were some dark reddish ones in a garden near our old house which I always admired when I passed.
ReplyDeleteThey can take a while to establish. This was a plant we bought down with mother in law after her husband died. Didn't think it would take after being split.
DeleteWhat a lovely variety of peony! Your garden looks simply gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThank you. A friend has a single red one, might have to see if she will give me a bit of it!
DeleteJust shows how far behind you we are, Dc. My peonies are still tight buds, the poppies have only been right out a few days, and the geranium are just coming into flower. We have LOADS of lovely white 'Tumbling Ted' (no idea of its proper name) and the aquilegia are hanging on in there.
ReplyDeleteMy garden seems to have just gone mad in the last week. Providing we get the promised rain, and everything stays standing, should do it all a world of good.
