Jigsaws and sticks

In two days, DB set to and completed his Christmas present of a 500 piece jigsaw. I bought it for him as this is how he remembers Christmas from his childhood:

Occasionally, when out for a walk in woods, Ruby, picks up a thick stick to walk back home. She is not allowed to run with sticks in her mouth. We take them off her once home and throw them into a pile to weather down. Here they are, mixed in with garden branches, ready to burn on our fire:

We usually only burn 1 to 1 1/2 baskets of logs in a day unless very cold then we might use 2.

  1. I am trying to find a 500piece jigsaw with a picture of Notre Dame Cathedral, Paris. We first visited 40yrs ago. I'm sure there must be one around somewhere!

  3. What a very helpful dog! Provides heat twice over, once by taking you for a walk, an again with the firewood she brings home!

    1. Certainly for DB as he walks her more than me!

  4. We used to do just the same with Sophie, the Border Collie, she gathered in a lot of our kindling this way. Our two little old ladies have never had any interest in sticks, or balls for that matter.

    1. Probably only one in 10 walks or so, she does this. We have never thrown sticks for her, too dangerous.
