Advertising rules for bloggers

It pays to know what the advertising code is when you advertise on your blog even if you don't think you are advertising. Here in the UK, you can check out this site

If you are a video blogger or Vblogger, what you can and cannot do can be found here

Forewarned is forearmed. Nuff said!

  1. Interesting. Can I please ask you what is that photo at the top of your blog page? Is it art? or does it have a practical use?

  2. A piece of art that I made on my BA Fine Art course. It is a piece of music meant to be played. If you look closely, you can see the stave woven in metallic thread. The metal washers are the notes! It no longer exists except in this picture. It was woven in fishing line on a peg loom that DB made.

  3. Hi, thanks for the post. I read the rules as, if you are getting paid you have to say so, which is fair enough.

  4. The rules are very similar here in the states. The UK post you linked to I read and it's almost identical. What they aim that toward is when you get a product to review, you must inform the readers that it is an endorsement that you receive/received compensation for in either the form of renumeration or the product in exchange for the review. Here, you can't just say you like something if you got it as an exchange for a review. As long as the ads are obvious ads, it's ok, it's those subtle ads in the form of talking about something that you are supposed to be up front about, again, at least stateside.

I've only gotten two or three items in exchange for a review and I always mention that. Now I'm not sure how people get really cool stuff like kitchenaid mixers, LOL!
