First of all, congratulations to DS for his latest promotion. He has to do 4 months probation before getting his pay rise but he has been doing the job to all intents and purposes for a while anyway, so hopefully, it won't be a problem.
The War Diary for June in Year V has been uploaded, you will need to scroll down to find it!
Whilst doing our family history, we took the opportunity to pop into Ryton Organic Gardens here
When it was first formed, it was known as H.D.R.A. - this is our 2nd or 3rd visit and might well be our last. The last time we visited they had a World War II garden but it is gone now, such a shame.
Anyway, it was a lovely day and we started off (after paying entry fees) through the hall leading to the gardens, where giant vegetable sculptures await:
Around the hall are numerous blackboards with lots of information on them, here are just a few. Clicking on them might enable you to read what is written, although one is a little blurred:
Dotted around various gardens were these lovely ideas for overwintering mainly flying creatures:
We particularly love the use of the hanging basket as it will fit into our small garden. DB plans on making at least one but it would need to be under cover as it contains egg cartons - we think they are just beautiful.
More next time.
LOVE the hanging basket idea> Will ddeffo be having a go at that!
ReplyDeleteGood isn't it!
DeleteMany Congrats to your DS. Our kids seem to be keeping pace, weddings on the same day, and my DS started a new job in March, but his salary increase started immediately.
ReplyDeleteI wonder which one of us with be a 'nana' first?
Ha, you probably.
DeleteIf DDiL had all her own way it would definitely be me, but DS is in favour of waiting a while, although how long 'a while' is, I wouldn't like to guess!
DeleteCongrats to DS. It's lovely to see our children striving forward in the world. Love the basket idea.
ReplyDeleteIt is isn't it, more power to their elbow I say.
DeleteThe hanging basket idea is most excellent, m'thinks there will be one here in Compromise garden. Thank you for sharing DC.
ReplyDeleteFantastic idea, not sure where to site it at the moment.
DeleteWell done to DS!
ReplyDeleteWill show J the hanging basket idea; I think he may want to make one, so thanks for posting about it.
Thank you and yes, the basket is a good idea as not all of us have the space for the big house.
