Our doorbell rang and it was our gardening neighbour. I had asked him 10 days prior if he had a few cooking apples. This is what he brought us - two buckets full to the brim:
Cooking apples above.Hard but small conference pears, they will ripen in about two weeks. Lovely chap. I usually bake him a cake or pudding as a thankyou.
I have been given lots of apples. I'm going to make chutney
ReplyDeleteI don’t think I need anymore but could do one if necessary.
DeleteOh that's a brilliant doorbell surprise!! You can do a lot with that :-)
ReplyDeleteMight dehydrate some.
DeleteWhat a wonderful neighbour.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
One winter we ran out of kindling and a few days later, he gave us a ‘safe’ pallet to chop up.
DeleteOh, my word, how lovely is that! I'm sure he will appreciate the pay back too. xx
ReplyDeleteHe loves puddings or jam.
DeleteBrilliant, he would make a good neighbour during rationing wouldn't he, and I bet he loves getting a cake or pudding in return. Alan loved the crumble I shared with him that was made from our individually scrumped apples.
ReplyDeleteAs a gardener, he says he sees so much fruit rotting on the ground that his customers don’t use.
DeleteWhat a lovely neighbour. Currently waiting for my apples to ripen, unfortunately my neighbours don't "do" trees, they make a mess in Autumn. Why some folk move to the countryside I'll never understand.
ReplyDeleteMe neither. Some tend to move for peace and quiet but don’t like nature or wild life or the peace and quiet.
