Going up

Fuel and food increases from last week. Blimey.

Asda petrol (gas not diesel) last week, rose from £1.69 to £1.74. This week it is £1.80. That equates to $6.81 US or $8.17 UK/Can per gallon.

Morrison’s rose last week from £1.72 to £1.76. This week it is £1.81. That equates to $6.85 US or $8.21 UK/Can per gallon.

Tinned rice pudding up 10p. Semi skimmed milk up 6p. Salad tomatoes (6), up 6p. Cucumber up 3p. 500g Greek yoghurt up 10p. Yorkshire Tea up 9p.

Managed to donate a few items to the food bank. I checked online what they were short of before buying.

  1. Closest garage to me diesel is £1.91. I'm shopping tomorrow and will see how much diesel is at the Co-op garage ...........and see what food has jumped up by in a week.

  2. I’m across the pond - in California. Gas is now $6.50 a gallon for regular. Diesel fuel is well over $7.00 a gallon = high foods costs. In my town the police are not responding to some calls due to the gas prices.

    1. I keep hearing things like that regarding the police, truckers etc.

  3. In my province of Saskatchewan (which actually produces oil and gas) the price right now is $2.06. 9 a liter or around the $10.50 an Imperial gallon. Really getting to the point where travel is going to be curtailed a great deal.

    God bless.

    1. Our fuel prices are cheaper here than other prices. I think our roads are getting slightly quieter. I also think food etc will get more expensive due to increased delivery charges.

  4. I don't drive but my friend tells me that we are now over $8 per gallon here in Toronto - it's all anyone talks about! So far my transit fare has stayed the same and working from home for half the week helps as well.
Groceries are up of course, although you can still get a few bargains (although that is relative since we have now gotten used to higher prices). The Milk Marketing Board has just asked for another increase - milk is around the $4 per litre mark at the moment and a pound of butter is $6.19 - I checked today. But unlike other places, our stores seem to be well stocked - one or two items may be a bit low on a shelf for a day or two but then the delivery trucks arrive and everything is restocked.

    1. Everywhere seems to operate on a just in time policy. Some shops here are fine, others have gaps. I think once we get onto the new harvest season, things maybe different.

  5. Yes, we are in the low £1.90s here at the moment, I daren't give you an exact figure as every single time we drive past they have changed ... always upwards!!

You'll be back to your wartime rations before you know it and we will all be joining you.
