Rain .....

At last, the rain has come, and come and come!

So far we have had 16 hours of heavy, non stop rain. Some large areas of the back garden have standing water covering the gravel. I am not sure the newly planted gooseberry will be impressed as it may be in a mini sump!

The pond has filled up and being on a slight slope, gently overflows when full, so it is hard to gauge just how much rain we have had so far.

We reckon not less that 4" and probably nearer 6" as a previously empty jug I use for watering small plants is full!

Forecasts estimate another 4 hours of heavy rain still to come.

  1. We had a few hours during the night. 2-7 but not overly heavy. I was expecting far more from what the forecast said.

    1. It normally misses us but it carried on as heavy rain almost all day.

  2. I think that we must be the only ones in the UK (Isle of Lewis) that haven't had rain today which certainly makes a change.

  3. The rain gauge this morning said one inch here. Watched Look East and the Norfolk Show was a bit wet, but just misty drizzle all day today here and further south - Ipswich - almost nothing all day. Hopefully it has done the fruit trees some good

    1. We thought the Norfolk show would have been drenched, shows how much it varied across the county and Suffolk as well.
