Food money....

Either prices have dropped slightly or I have been canny with my shopping this month. Either way, having £35 leftover is a pleasant surprise. I shall put it to one side for stocking up, or using throughout the rest of the year as and when needed!

It was very misty this morning but hopefully the sun will soon burn it away. I want to get the winter quilt aired ready for changing over at the end of the month. We are now officially in Autumn in all definitions and this morning reflected it.

Our heating has been on for quick bursts, but so far, we have got away with no morning heat. Every little helps.

Have a lovely weekend folks!

  1. I agree with you, for the past couple of months I have had more money left in the grocery fund. I have had to do more with my money too, so it's not as though I'm saving in other areas. Can't quite put my finger on what is cheaper though!

    1. I think, like Mrs Shoestring, it is a combination of food, especially fruit, from the garden, and canny shopping:)

  2. You did do well with the grocery money as prices are definitely up ! I also have money left over this month which I shall sue for stocking up. I think the reason is because we have used so much from the garden !

    1. Any drop in prices I have seen is usually only a few pence so think it must be canny shopping. This week, I bought 5 items, not on my list and the total still came to less than usual.

  3. Our boiler is still on hot water only but we say thank goodness for the wood-burner in the evenings!

  4. Our furnace has been turned on, however some mornings it hasn't cut in and it does stay off for most of the day.

Good going on the amount of savings you managed to get. Here nothing seems to go down.

    God bless.

  6. We are holding out on the heating in the morning just having it on for a few hours in the evening. Now that the fireplace and stove are finished we will be able to have a fire in the evening. Well done on your shopping, mine is increasing although I have been adding items for pickles, chutneys and jams ready for gifts.
