For those of us living in rural area's in the East of the country, and in particular Norfolk and Suffolk, a cold night is predicted, with some area's forecast as low as 7C.
My poor old tomatoes are now so leggy due to humidity, drowning etc that some of them are being put into pots and stored overnight in the garage for protection.
Those that need to go outside in the ground will just have to wait. The next few nights should see the temperature overnight getting to around 10C or 11C, which with fleece protection, is the bare minimum they can be outside in.
On the joys of growing outdoors and the mixture of weather, its grand gardening, isn't it!
My first year growing and certainly a learning curve lol
ReplyDeleteYou never stop learning, always something new to discover!
DeleteAnd just when you think you've got it sussed the weather will be different and you have to learn all over again!
DeleteAmazing how the temperature has dropped - our toms are all grown in the green house (and Jim always starts them off late so there are always a lot of green ones to deal with!)
ReplyDeleteLovely to see you at Open Studios on Sunday, it was a quiet but interesting afternoon!
And you. We haven't got space for a proper greenhouse and my small one could only hold 2 so it is used just for propagating.
DeleteMy first year of having a allotment I hope everything survives
ReplyDeleteGardening is very much a game of roundabouts, sometimes you win, sometimes you don't. You just have to be willing to come back for more:)
DeleteI've felt cold today. J has repotted the tomatoes which are staying in the greenhouse, into their big pots, but those that are going outdoors won't be put out for a while yet. I'm sick to death of my leg, because I just want to get down to the allotment. It was looking much better this morning, but the redness seems to be creeping again. Will see how it is in the morning, but if this continues a trip back to A&E may be on the cards :(
ReplyDeleteEverything in the garage now. Toms will go out tomorrow and if need be, will have to have fleece erected around them. Hope your leg gets better, blasted bugs!
DeleteWe were meant to be campervanning over the weekend in Suffolk and really looking forward to it. But - the weather forecast did not look too good and we thought it would be too wet after the rainy week, so cancelled it. Was disappointed but although it didn't rain, it certainly was chilly so had a good weekend out in the garden and now feel quite chuffed with the outcome.

Helps to keep the garden in check, especially in warm but wet weather. I am still trying to dead-head things in the front.
