The healthy diet begins...

It was just over 2 years ago that we both went on quite a strict diet and lost 12lb each in about 2 1/2 months. It stayed off for quite a while but gradually went back on.

I last weighed myself on the 19th July and then again today. No change which is good but  I am 1/2 a stone heavier (7lbs) than I really want to be. I just feel uncomfortable and although a size 14, I am on the upper edge of that, around a size 15 or so. All my clothes are getting a little tight.

DB will join me on this journey for the evening meals plus 3 or 4 lunch time meals. He can have extra if need be. I think some days I will be slightly less than the 1200 calories I am allowing, others a bit more. Hopefully, it will balance itself out.

I will report back later (or tomorrow if I forget) with a picture of tea and a recipe link to it. All evening meals should be around 400 calories unless I add extra vegetables.

I wanted to expand my recipe list anyway so have chosen around 10 mid day lunches and main meals to trial.

  1. Good luck with your weight loss. Having had policeman's heel and reduced exercise I've put on 5lbs and like you I'm aiming for 1200 but by the time I take out my milk, veg, fruit and salad dressing it will be around 1050.

    1. I have had bursitis in both hips for months. Can walk but not too far and certainly not exercise easily. Let’s see how we both do.

  2. Good luck with your weight loss. I am about 6lbs heavier after lockdown and in this heat I find it impossible to exercise as I would like to ... I hate being hot and sweaty although some people seem to relish it. And of course I can't even walk Suky too far at the moment as even first thing in the morning and late at night the humidity affects her.

I'm not stressing over it though, it is what it is.

    1. I have bursitis in both my hips and shoulders, for months now, so exercise other than gentle walking isn’t possible. Hopefully a bit of weight loss will help.

  3. Good luck with your weight loss and I hope your bursitis gets better soon. I’ve been sticking to about 1400 cals a day ( if I go over I don’t beat myself up, sometimes cake happens!) and also doing 3 YouTube HIIT sessions at home. Weight loss is slow, but it works for me. I’ve weighed myself on a Wednesday and recorded it since 2010 in a little book and I’m the lightest I’ve been since ‘records began’ I’ve lost about 1 1/2 stone, so I’m quite happy how things are going. I’m doing it to be more healthy really, although the fat around my belly is very stubborn, haha!

  4. Blueberry, Chia and Banana overnight oats for breakfast. Cheese salad for lunch plus a yoghurt. Fruit smoothie plus oats for tea. Too hot for anything else. I like to leave enough calories for a pre-bedtime glass of cold milk.
