Through the front window...

The poppies are in bloom:

I used to have about 8 of these but have whittled them down over the years as they collapse and cause problems for other plants.

  1. It looks so pretty and full, the poppies are just beautiful. The front garden/ lawn area is my focus for this month, it's hard to make it look cosy as it's open to the street but I'll do what I can!

    1. It all helps the creatures. I am still trying to get more late autumn plants in to give the bees a final boost for winter.

  2. I have a few poppies out the front - the self seeded alarmingly last year so I had loads aout and hope to keep them under control by dead heading most of them. Maybe I can harvest some of the seeds and plant them in a container. Poppies are so cheerful, after all. Yours look really lovely.

    1. Both these big poppies and the opium style poppies produce large amounts of seed which I gather to use in bread and cakes.

  3. So colourful, and I love the gravel paths, sets the plants off nicely. I'd never have thought of using the seeds for baking, how silly of me!

    1. The whole front is gravel as DB got fed up of mowing. We try to keep paths clear of plants. Back is the same but red gravel. At least harvesting the seeds means they are free.
